No Teargas This Time as Police Make Silent Arrests During Today’s Demos in Nairobi CBD, Details

A quiet shift in tactical response has unfolded in the heart of Nairobi as security forces have adopted new containment methods across major avenues.

According to updates confirmed by KBC Channel 1 News, police officers have arrested several individuals participating in protests against high fuel prices within the central business district without relying on traditional teargas canisters to disperse the crowds.

The changed strategy has caught many demonstrators off guard across key city intersections. Rather than firing chemical irritants that usually paralyze traffic and business operations, security personnel have moved quietly through gathering groups to identify and apprehend key participants.

Witnesses have observed plainclothes and uniformed officers working together, apprehending protesters swiftly before escorting them into waiting police vehicles stationed nearby.

Citizens and shop owners have noted that the absence of stinging teargas smoke has allowed commercial activities to continue with minimal disruption, despite the visible tension across the central business district.

Demonstrators have continued to raise their voices against rising fuel tariffs and the escalating cost of living, insisting that peaceful public assembly remains their legitimate right.

However, the discreet approach by law enforcement has prevented large crowds from forming sustained blockades along major thoroughfares.

Rights advocates and civic observers have monitored these developments closely, questioning the legality of sudden arrests while noting the strategic change in crowd management techniques.

As security teams have maintained a firm presence throughout the afternoon, officers have remained vigilant, picking off demonstrators discreetly whenever small groups have attempted to restart chants.

The unfolding situation has reflected a highly coordinated effort by authorities to maintain order while preventing chaotic street clashes in the nation’s commercial center.
