Mutuse Speaks Out on Ruto and Wamunyoro With Bold Message on Where Development Comes From

Kibwezi West Member of Parliament Mwengi Mutuse has defended President William Ruto’s development agenda, declaring that Kenyans should look to the Head of State for development rather than Rigathi Gachagua’s Wamunyoro political camp.

The remarks attributed to Mutuse come at a time when Wamunyoro, Gachagua’s residence in Nyeri County, has become a meeting point for opposition leaders seeking to strengthen their cooperation ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Mutuse’s statement, “We cannot get development from Wamunyoro; development comes from William Ruto,” places the question of development at the centre of the growing political contest between Ruto’s allies and leaders associated with the opposition.

The statement also reflects the competing approaches being presented to Kenyans, with Ruto’s allies highlighting government projects while Gachagua and other opposition figures work towards a possible political alliance.

On Monday, October 26, Gachagua hosted Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti and other leaders from the Ukambani region at his Wamunyoro residence. The meeting coincided with Ruto’s development engagements in Ukambani, adding another dimension to the political exchanges surrounding the region.

According to Pulse Kenya, Gachagua welcomed the visiting leaders and spoke about the importance of unity, while the meeting took place as the President pursued development activities in an area traditionally associated with opposition politics. .

The latest political developments follow an earlier meeting on October 20, when Gachagua hosted Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and leaders linked to the Linda Mwananchi faction. According to the Daily Nation, the discussions included plans to work towards a united opposition presidential ticket to challenge Ruto in the next general election.
