Let’s Keep The Unity: Ablakwa Congratulates Newly Elected NDC Executives

According to a report by TV3Gh, on Monday October 26, 2026, North Tongu Member of Parliament and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has congratulated newly elected constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), urging them to maintain unity and strengthen the party’s collective efforts towards achieving more electoral victories.

Mr Ablakwa extended his congratulations following the conclusion of the party’s constituency-level elections, which have produced new leadership teams tasked with managing the party’s affairs at the grassroots.

In his message, the Foreign Affairs Minister emphasised the importance of togetherness among party members, stressing that the outcome of the elections should be viewed as a victory for the NDC as a whole rather than for individual candidates.

“I also convey heartfelt congratulations to the entire NDC fraternity across the country. The NDC is the true winner,” he said on X.

The North Tongu legislator congratulated the newly elected constituency executives in his area and encouraged them to work collectively to advance the party’s interests.

His appeal comes at a time when the NDC is seeking to consolidate its internal structures and ensure that disagreements arising from the elections do not undermine its unity.

The constituency elections are considered an important stage in strengthening the party’s grassroots organisation, with the newly elected executives expected to play a central role in mobilising members, coordinating political activities and maintaining engagement with supporters.

Mr Ablakwa’s message highlights the need for party members to put aside personal differences and focus on shared objectives following the internal contest.

The call for unity also reflects the broader expectation that successful candidates and their opponents will cooperate in the interest of the party.

Meanwhile, NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has also urged party members to accept the election results and work together to strengthen the organisation.

Speaking at the Ketu North Constituency Delegates Conference at Weta in the Volta Region on Sunday, October 25, 2026, Mr Asiedu Nketiah explained that he had deliberately avoided participating in constituency elections across the country to prevent his presence from influencing delegates or creating the impression that he supported particular candidates.

According to him, his position as National Chairman requires him to remain neutral during internal contests so that he can effectively bring members together after the elections, regardless of which candidates emerge victorious.

“Everybody in the NDC is my friend and family member. If I select some of you and call you my friends, it means the others are my enemies, but I believe all of you are my friends,” he said.

The NDC chairman stressed that the party’s leadership must be able to reconcile members on all sides of an internal contest.

He maintained that maintaining cordial relationships among party members was essential to ensuring that the elections strengthened rather than weakened the organisation.

Mr Asiedu Nketiah also appealed to unsuccessful aspirants not to interpret their defeats as a rejection by the party.

He explained that political positions are limited and that only one person can occupy a particular office at a time.

He encouraged those who lost their bids to remain committed to the NDC, noting that they could still have opportunities to contribute to the party and serve in other capacities in the future.

The National Chairman further called on delegates to support candidates they considered suitable for the various positions while urging all aspirants to accept the final outcomes in good faith.

“What matters is not who wins, but how that person wins and how we are able to put the party together after the election,” he said.

His remarks reinforce the message of unity conveyed by Mr Ablakwa, with both party figures highlighting the importance of cooperation, reconciliation and collective responsibility after the constituency elections.

As the newly elected executives prepare to assume their responsibilities, the emphasis from the party’s leadership is on ensuring that internal competition does not become a source of lasting division.

For Mr Ablakwa, the priority is clear: the NDC must preserve its unity, strengthen its grassroots structures and continue working towards future victories.

The success of the newly elected executives will therefore depend not only on their ability to lead their respective constituencies but also on their willingness to work with other party members in pursuit of common goals.
