It sends the wrong signal – Fiifi Boafo on GTA leadership tensions

A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communications team, Fiifi Boafo, has questioned the working relationship between Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Maame Efua Houadjeto and her deputy, Abeiku Santana, after reports of a communication gap between them.

“I’m wondering what is happening at the GTA that the CEO doesn’t want to see Abeiku to the extent that he would write to the minister,” Boafo said on Joy News, questioning why the situation had escalated to the point of involving the minister.

Mr Boafo said he had always seen Abeiku as someone who related well to different people, so the reported tension within the authority surprised him.

“I think he’s a character who fits in everywhere. He’s a nice person, a pleasant human being,” he said.

He argued the matter required urgent intervention, warning that the dispute sent the wrong signal about the authority’s internal working relationship.

“It sends the wrong signal. There’s a need for immediate action to get the issue resolved,” Boafo said.

He added that if Abeiku was contributing to the problem, the GTA’s leadership should also take steps to address the issues and restore a workable relationship.
