Kenyans React as Man Reveals Alleged Road Leading to Kalonzo Musyoka’s Home

Kenyans have reacted after a video showing a man driving along a rough road he claims leads to Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s rural home in Tseikuru, Kitui County, sparked fresh debate about development in the area.

In the video circulating online, the man drives along the road, pointing out its poor condition as he claims to be showing Kenyans the route leading to the opposition leader’s residence.

He questions why the road remains in such a state despite Kalonzo having held senior government positions for many years. The man argues that leaders should prioritise the welfare of residents, including improving roads and other essential services that make life easier for ordinary citizens.

The video has drawn attention to the condition of roads in Tseikuru, with the discussion coming at a time when President William Ruto has ordered the tarmacking of a section leading to Kalonzo’s home.

On Monday, October 26, Ruto directed a contractor working on the Kandwia-Kyuso-Tseikuru road project to extend the tarmacking to cover an additional three-kilometre stretch leading to the Wiper leader’s residence.

Speaking during the launch of the road project in Kora, Kitui County, the President said he did not want residents to be denied development because of political differences.

He argued that Kalonzo was also a Kenyan and deserved to benefit from government projects like other citizens.

The directive came as Ruto launched the 55-kilometre Twimiwa-Tseikuru-Usweni road project, valued at approximately KSh5 billion, which is expected to improve transport and access to markets and essential services in the region.

The President specifically instructed the contractor to ensure the road was extended to Kalonzo’s home. The road has featured in political exchanges between Ruto and Kalonzo, with the President previously questioning why the Wiper leader’s rural home was still accessed through a dusty road despite his long career in public service.

Kalonzo has previously defended his development record, arguing that he played a role in initiating major road projects in the region.
