Hon Okudzeto Should Not Provoke Some Of Us With This National Security Nonsense—Kofi

According to a Post on Kofi Ofosu official facebook account on Sunday, October 25,2026,Ghanaian social commentator Kofi Ofosu has taken a swipe at Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa over the reported reliance on national security concerns to withhold financial documents relating to charter flights used to transport Ghanaian evacuees from South Africa.

In a Facebook post, Ofosu questioned why invoices, payment records, receipts and other relevant documents concerning the evacuation exercise should be withheld on national security grounds, arguing that the public deserves accountability for government expenditure.

The commentator expressed displeasure with what he described as an attempt to invoke national security to prevent the disclosure of financial information about the charter flights.

He challenged Ablakwa to explain how releasing details of the flights’ costs, payments made, service providers engaged and corresponding receipts could pose a threat to national security.

Ofosu also accused the minister of inconsistency, pointing to what he described as Ablakwa’s previous disclosures of flight details involving former President Nana Akufo-Addo.

“Have we forgotten how he repeatedly and recklessly made the flight details of former President Nana Akufo-Addo public? What has changed now?” he questioned.

According to Ofosu, the circumstances surrounding the evacuation flights raise legitimate questions about transparency, particularly because public funds are involved. He maintained that information about government spending should be made available unless there are clear and justifiable reasons for withholding specific details. His criticism centres on the distinction between sensitive operational information and financial records that could help the public understand how much the evacuation exercise cost and how the funds were spent.
