Ghanaians React As Serwaa Amihere Advises Ladies To Stop Wearing Fàke Bags And Shoes
According to a report by The BBC Ghana today being Monday, October 26, 2026, Ghanaian lawyer and media personality Serwaa Amihere has urged young women to stop putting themselves under pressure to acquire fake designer bags, wigs, shoes and other expensive fashion items, encouraging them to focus instead on building successful lives.
The media personality gave the advice while speaking to her young mentees at the IGNITE Woman programme, where she highlighted the importance of patience, hard work and financial discipline among young women who are still working towards achieving their ambitions.
According to Serwaa Amihere, young women should not rush to purchase expensive products simply because they want to look wealthy or impress people around them.
She encouraged them to understand that building a successful life takes time and that they should concentrate on improving their circumstances before spending money on luxury items.
She explained that there would be an opportunity for them to purchase original designer products in the future when they had developed the financial capacity to afford them comfortably.
Her advice encourages young women to avoid unnecessary competition and the pressure to maintain a lifestyle that may be beyond their current financial means. Rather than spending money to impress others, she wants them to channel their energy into productive activities that can improve their lives.
The message also draws attention to the influence of social media, where luxury fashion and expensive lifestyles are frequently displayed. For some young people, these images can create unrealistic expectations and encourage spending decisions that may not be financially wise.
Serwaa’s comments serve as a reminder that owning expensive fashion items should not be treated as the ultimate measure of success. Young women can make meaningful progress by investing in their education, developing valuable skills, pursuing career opportunities and learning how to manage their finances responsibly.
She also encouraged her mentees to be patient with themselves and recognise that people achieve their goals at different stages of life.
