Eugene Wamalwa Visits Gachagua in Wamunyoro, Donates Bull as Opposition Consultations Continue
Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa on Monday, October 26, visited former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County, adding to a series of political consultations among opposition leaders ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Wamalwa, a former Defence Cabinet Secretary, met Gachagua shortly after the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader held talks with a delegation from the Wiper Patriotic Front at his residence.
During the visit, Wamalwa donated a bull to Gachagua, an event that brought together leaders from different political formations at a time when opposition figures are exploring ways to cooperate ahead of the next general election.
Gachagua acknowledged Wamalwa’s visit in a social media post, welcoming him to Wamunyoro and indicating that consultations among political leaders would continue.
“Karibu Wamunyoro, residence of Omwami @EugeneLWamalwa. We continue to consult,” Gachagua stated.
The meeting followed discussions between Gachagua and Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who visited Wamunyoro earlier on Monday alongside other party leaders.
According to Gachagua, their discussions focused on what he described as the liberation of the country and preparations for the formation of the sixth administration after the 2027 elections.
Gachagua said the leaders had agreed to make the necessary sacrifices to settle on a single presidential candidate to represent their political formation.
“We are all in agreement that we shall make whatever sacrifices necessary to settle on one presidential candidate to be the captain of our struggle. Consultations continue,” he said.
Wamalwa’s visit also comes days after Gachagua hosted Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and other figures associated with the Linda Mwananchi movement at his Wamunyoro residence on October 20.
The series of meetings highlights ongoing engagements between opposition leaders as they explore possible alliances, political cooperation and the selection of a joint presidential candidate ahead of the August 2027 General Election.
However, the meetings do not, on their own, establish that a formal coalition agreement or final presidential ticket has been reached.
