Two white women hold ANC and DA placards for passing motorists in a CBD

Two white women representing the ANC and DA were filmed competing to display their political party placards to passing motorists in a South African central business district. Each woman held a placard supporting a different party, and as a vehicle drove past, they appeared to try to outdo each other by making sure their preferred party’s message was seen. The encounter has drawn attention as an unusual display of political rivalry between supporters of South Africa’s two parties.

One thing the post leaves open is where the women were standing, since the post says the exact location has not been established. The post also does not say whether the women were taking part in an organised campaign or acting on their own, or when the footage was recorded. Those details matter because they would establish the context of the encounter. Without them, the clip shows only the two women displaying their placards and the brief exchange as a vehicle passed.

People reacting to the post treated the scene as an unusual display of political rivalry, with some saying it showed how political competition plays out between ordinary citizens and others saying the women were simply doing their job as campaigners. Some found the exchange amusing, while others said it reflected the wider contest between the ANC and DA ahead of the elections.

What remains unresolved is whether the parties commented on the footage or whether the women were identified. The post does not establish whether they were taking part in an organised campaign or acting independently. The public is waiting for more information, because the clip has drawn attention to the rivalry between the two parties without any confirmation of the circumstances behind it.
