President Ruto Has More Support Among Gen Zs than the Elderly- CS Mbadi
Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has claimed that President William Ruto enjoys more support among Gen Zs than the elderly.
Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has claimed that President William Ruto enjoys more support among Gen Zs than the elderly.
Speaking during an interview on Sunday, October 25, CS Mbadi said the internal polls conducted every two weeks indicate that the Head of State has significant backing among young people.
“We do our opinion polls every two weeks. William Ruto has more support among the Gen Zs than even the elderly,” said CS Mbadi.
Mbadi also dismissed Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s large crowds during Linda Mwananchi rallies, saying the turnout at political rallies does not necessarily translate into votes.
The Treasury CS cited Charity Ngilu’s presidential campaign in 1997, recalling the large crowds she attracted at Uhuru Park but ended up finishing fifth in that year’s presidential election.

“Do you know how many people attended Charity Ngilu’s rally in 1997 here at Uhuru Park? Do you know the position Ngilu got finally? Number five in the presidential election. My friend, presidential elections are no joke,” Mbadi stated.
Further, CS Mbadi predicted that Sifuna will lose if he runs for president in the 2027 General Election.
“I know he will lose badly. I don’t know how many people will go to the ballot, but he will lose badly. He is fairly an intelligent person; I don’t think he may run, but if he runs he will lose,” Mbadi added.
This comes a day after the Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetang’ula, maintained that Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna is not ripe to become the President of Kenya.
Speaking in Vihiga County on Friday, October 23, Wetang’ula claimed that Sifuna, a first-time Senator, cannot leapfrog to the presidency without climbing the political ladder and gaining the experience needed.
He said that Kenya’s former Presidents had spent some time in Parliament before rising to the top seat, and added that Sifuna would need a miracle to be the first MP to become President after serving one term in Parliament.
“Jomo Kenyatta was released from prison aged 75, and ruled the country for 15 years. Moi joined Parliament in 1957 and became President in 1978; Kibaki became an MP in 1963 but did not become President until 2002; Uhuru and Ruto joined in 1997 but waited until 2013 and 2022, respectively,” said Wetang’ula.
He added, “You can clearly see that there is no miracle of someone becoming an MP today and becoming President tomorrow. You must gain experience; you must know people, you must traverse the entire country to build friendships and partnerships.”
