NCDC Announces Two More Suspected Ebola Cases In Nigeria

According to a report by The Daily Post on Sunday, October 25, 2026, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has announced two more suspected cases of Ebola in the country, while stressing that neither has been confirmed.

The Director General of the agency, Dr Jide Idris, disclosed this on Sunday during a press briefing. He was careful to point out that the new cases remain suspected for now, and that no one should treat them as confirmed infections until test results say otherwise.

The NCDC boss also shared some positive news from Rivers State. According to him, a suspected case earlier reported in the state has been tested and found negative. The patient has since been cleared of the disease.

Dr Idris explained that the agency continues to investigate every suspected case it receives, a process that includes laboratory testing before any official conclusion is reached. This is why the outcome in Rivers State was only announced after the result came back.

The latest announcement comes at a time when many Nigerians are anxious about the possibility of the deadly virus appearing in the country.

Ebola is a serious illness that can spread quickly if not contained, so health authorities usually act fast whenever a suspected case is reported.

The NCDC did not provide details on where the two new suspected cases were recorded, or whether the affected persons have been isolated. It also did not say when the test results are expected.

Members of the public are advised to stay calm and rely on official updates from the NCDC instead of rumours on social media.

Anyone who notices symptoms or has concerns should contact the nearest health facility or the agency’s helpline without delay.
