Jaramogi Family Feud Reaches Court As Applicants Press Oburu Oginga Over Estate Properties
ODM leader and Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga is facing a legal dispute with family members over the estate of his late father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.
According to The Standard, the applicants, who include his stepmother, step-siblings and a niece, allege that some properties were omitted from the 1996 succession process and that certain beneficiaries were sidelined.
They are seeking an account of Oburu’s management of the estate over the past three decades, including details of rental income, bank accounts and the ownership of Rongai Farm.
The applicants have also asked the court to freeze dealings involving a 140-acre property while the dispute is heard.
Jaramogi died on January 20, 1994. Oburu and his younger brother, Raila Odinga, later served as administrators of their father’s estate.
The case brings renewed attention to the management and distribution of the family’s properties. However, the applicants’ claims remain allegations and have yet to be determined by the court.
