INVESTING: Top 20 Biggest Money Market Funds in Kenya

Standard Investment Trust Fund has become Kenya’s largest collective investment scheme, overtaking Sanlam, which had previously led the market, according to the Capital Markets Authority (CMA).

The ranking is contained in the CMA’s Quarterly Statistical Bulletin, which showed the fund managing KSh 188.62 billion as of June 30, 2026, equal to a 19.88 per cent market share. Its assets rose 23 per cent from KSh 153.15 billion in March.

Sanlam Unit Trust Scheme took second place with KSh 171.38 billion and an 18.06 per cent share, followed by CIC Unit Trust Scheme with KSh 105.24 billion, or 11.09 per cent.

Britam Unit Trust Scheme was fourth with KSh 71.35 billion (7.52 per cent), and NCBA Unit Trust Scheme fifth with KSh 50.54 billion (5.33 per cent).

Completing the top ten were Old Mutual (KSh 38.29 billion), Jubilee (KSh 32.90 billion), Absa (KSh 31.39 billion), Coop (KSh 27.09 billion) and KCB (KSh 26.03 billion). Etica ranked 11th with KSh 24.87 billion, ICEA 12th with KSh 23.74 billion and Madison 13th with KSh 20.56 billion.

Ziidi Money Market Fund placed 14th with KSh 19.89 billion, ahead of Faida Unit Trust Funds at KSh 19.42 billion and Nabo Africa Funds at KSh 14.79 billion.

Overall, assets managed by collective investment schemes climbed to KSh 948.7 billion by the end of June, from KSh 851.7 billion in March, an increase of 11 per cent in three months.

The CMA credited growth in existing funds, additional funds registered under existing umbrella schemes that began reporting in the second quarter, and stronger marketing by fund managers.

Among the leaders, Sanlam’s assets grew by six per cent, CIC’s by two per cent and Britam’s by 15 per cent. NCBA was the notable decliner, with a seven per cent fall from KSh 54.29 billion in March.
