Gaming Commission Marks 20 Years with Focus on Institutional Growth and Expansion

byMavis FanteviOctober 25, 20260 The Gaming Commission of Ghana is marking its 20th anniversary with a focus on institutional growth and expansion, highlighted by the opening of four new zonal offices in 2026.

Acting Gaming Commissioner Dr Emmanuel Siisi Quainoo announced the development while speaking on the sidelines of activities commemorating the Commission’s two decades of gaming regulation.

The new offices, located in Swedru, Ho, Asante Bekwai and Sefwi Wiawso, add to three zonal offices established during Dr Quainoo’s previous tenure as Commissioner from 2014 to 2017.

Dr Quainoo, who was reappointed in 2025, said the anniversary offered an opportunity to reflect on the Commission’s achievements and give thanks to God for its progress over the years.

He also prayed for incident-free anniversary activities and wished all participating teams well as the Commission prepares to celebrate the milestone with agencies under the Ministry of the Interior.

The three-day celebration, scheduled for October 28 to 30, 2026, will begin with a float through the principal streets of Accra on October 28.

Cooking and eating competitions will follow at the Police Headquarters Event Centre on October 29, before the celebrations conclude with sporting competitions at Burma Camp on October 30.

Established in 2006 under the Gaming Act, 2006 (Act 721), the Gaming Commission of Ghana regulates sports betting, casinos, roulette and other games of chance.

The anniversary provides an opportunity for the Commission to reflect on its institutional development and regulatory responsibilities as it enters its third decade of operation.
