“You Want to Take Us Backwards” Raila Junior Fires at Sifuna, Babu, Orengo, Osotsi for Ditching ODM

The war inside ODM has gone nuclear, with Raila Odinga Junior directly firing at Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and EALA MP Winnie Odinga.

Speaking on October 23rd, 2026, Raila Junior defended ODM’s broad-based deal with President William Ruto and slammed those who have formed Linda Mwananchi / Kenya Moja movement.

“This party is the one that brought devolution, and it is the one that made us move away from tribalism. This party is not for one tribe. It is a party for all of us, and we have no big or small tribe. Our tribe is ODM. Those who have left here want to take us backwards. But we have said that we must continue moving forward,” Junior said.

The statement is seen as a direct attack on:

1. Edwin Sifuna – ODM SG who was removed and has now teamed up with Rigathi Gachagua’s DCP to form Kenya Moja, accusing ODM of betraying Raila’s legacy.

2. Babu Owino – Who was seen with Sifuna at PAG Kawangware declaring “Tutam” and calling ODM leaders “traitors” who sold Raila’s soul to Ruto for positions.

3. Winnie Odinga – Raila’s daughter, who has openly sided with Sifuna and Orengo, saying ODM under Oburu Oginga and Gladys Wanga has lost direction and become a “Ruto praise-and-worship team”.

Junior’s message is clear: ODM is bigger than any individual. By leaving to form tribal coalitions with Gachagua (Mt Kenya), Kalonzo (Ukambani) and Matiang’i (Kisii), Sifuna, Babu and Winnie are taking Kenya back to tribal politics that Raila fought against through devolution.

He insists “Our tribe is ODM” – meaning ODM is not a Luo party, it’s a national party that accommodated everyone. Those who left want to reduce it to a Nyanza tribal party.

Supporters of Sifuna have already hit back, saying Raila Junior is the one who left Baba’s ideals by joining Ruto’s broad-based government. “Who is taking us backwards? The one who is in bed with Ruto who abducted Gen Zs, or the one fighting for Wananchi?” one commenter wrote under K24.
