Two-Thirds Majority Weakens Parliamentary Oversight – Awuku warns Ghanaians

Akuapem North MP Sammi Awuku has urged Ghanaians not to give any political party a two-thirds majority in Parliament, warning that such overwhelming control weakens legislative oversight and puts the country’s constitutional safeguards at risk.The former Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) described the NDC’s two-thirds majority following the 2024 elections as a mistake, arguing that Parliament needs a strong opposition to scrutinise government decisions and hold the executive accountable.
