Today’s Headlines: Nobody Can Stop Tinubu’s 8 Years — Igbokwe; Osinbajo Proposes AI Plan for Ogun
Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will complete eight years in office, arguing that political opponents would struggle to prevent him from serving a second term.
Igbokwe made the remarks while discussing Tinubu’s political strength and his prospects ahead of the 2027 presidential election. He also urged supporters across Southern Nigeria, including the South-East, to work together in support of the president’s re-election bid.
According to Igbokwe, Tinubu’s emergence as president in 2023 followed a determined political struggle, and he believes the president has now established a strong position within the country’s political system.
The APC chieftain insisted that the opposition would find it difficult to remove Tinubu after his first four years in office.
His comments reflect the confidence of some members of the ruling party as political activities gradually build towards the next general election. However, the outcome of the 2027 election will ultimately depend on the electoral process and the choices made by Nigerian voters.
Former Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has proposed a 10-year development blueprint aimed at transforming Ikenne, Ogun State, into a centre for technological innovation and education.
The initiative, known as the Ikenne 2036 Plan, focuses on artificial intelligence, robotics and technology-driven learning as tools for preparing the community for future opportunities.
Osinbajo presented the proposal on Friday during a lecture titled, “Ikenne, a Small Town, a Great Inheritance and an Even Greater Future.” The event was held as part of the 50th Ereke Day anniversary organised by the Ikenne Development Association.
During his address, the former vice-president highlighted the legacy of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, whose leadership and educational initiatives contributed to the development of the old Western Region.
Osinbajo argued that a community’s size should not determine its ambitions or its ability to contribute meaningfully to national progress.
The proposed plan seeks to build on Ikenne’s historical achievements by encouraging technological advancement and strengthening education. If implemented effectively, the initiative could provide a framework for preparing young people for a technology-driven economy.
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has appealed to contestants for the vacant Olufon of Ifon-Omima stool in Ondo State to resolve their disagreements through dialogue.
The appeal was conveyed by Oba Peter Ipadeola, the monarch of Ifon-Osun in Osun State, who visited the Ondo community on Saturday to encourage reconciliation among the contestants and other stakeholders.
The traditional stool became vacant following the death of Oba Israel Adeusi in 2020. Disagreements over the selection of a successor have prevented the community from installing a new monarch.
The intervention aims to encourage understanding among the parties and help bring the prolonged dispute to an end.
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has accused former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar of being concerned about the APC’s support base in northern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement titled, “Why Atiku Abubakar Is Particularly Jittery About the Kaduna Flag-off,” Keyamo criticised what he described as online attacks against the ruling party ahead of its campaign rally in Kaduna State.
He also alleged that videos showing the removal of Tinubu’s campaign posters were staged to create the impression that the president was losing support in the North.
These claims represent Keyamo’s position on the developing political dispute and have not been independently established by the information provided.
