‘The APC and Tinubu Regime Want Nigerians to Mistake a Packed Stadium for Nationwide Support’—Sowore
Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the crowd at President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna.
In a post on his official X account on Saturday, October 24, 2026, Sowore argued that a crowded stadium should not be taken as evidence of nationwide support for the president or his party.
He referred to the gathering at Ranchers Bees Stadium in Kaduna, where APC supporters assembled for the campaign event. Reports from the venue described a large turnout ahead of Tinubu’s arrival.
Sowore also questioned the significance of the crowd, arguing that the presence of many supporters at a political rally does not necessarily reflect the views of Nigerians across the country.
His comments came as the APC began its campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general election, with the Kaduna event bringing together party supporters and political leaders.
Sowore’s criticism centres on the distinction between attracting a large crowd at a campaign rally and demonstrating broader electoral support. His post challenges the APC’s ability to present the gathering as a reflection of nationwide backing for Tinubu.
