Shatta Wale Makes U-Turn On Shatta Fest Fraud Remarks As Ghanaians Demand Police Action

According to a report by Ghbase News on Saturday October 24, 2026, Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale appears to have offered a fresh explanation for controversial remarks he made during his Shatta Fest celebration, following growing calls from some members of the public for the Ghana Police Service (GPS) to invite him for questioning.

The musician, known for his outspoken personality and provocative statements, has sparked discussions after comments he made on stage were interpreted by some people as suggesting that he had connections with individuals involved in fraudulent activities.

However, in a subsequent TikTok Live session monitored by Ghbase News, Shatta Wale sought to clarify what he meant, insisting that his remarks had been misunderstood.

The dancehall star explained that when he spoke about having friends who were involved in fraud, he was referring to people he personally knew who had allegedly cheated or disappointed him in different ways.

According to him, his statement was not intended to suggest the kind of association that some people have since attributed to him.

During the livestream, Shatta Wale questioned why people were criticising him without first considering the context of his comments. He maintained that he was fully aware of what he said and suggested that his words were being taken out of context.

“So you people think I don’t think before I say the things I say? Police for call your mother,” he said, expressing frustration with those questioning his remarks.

He went on to explain that some of his friends had allegedly made promises to him but failed to fulfil them, while others had taken advantage of their relationships with him.

Shatta Wale recounted an incident involving a friend who had allegedly promised to help him travel to the United States but eventually travelled without him.

He also claimed that another friend had collected money from him through a susu arrangement and failed to return it, while a different individual had promised to buy him a car but never delivered on that promise.

“If I say I get my friends wey be fraud boys, you know how many of my friends fraud me?” he asked during the session, using the examples to support his explanation.

The musician’s comments appeared to be an attempt to clarify the meaning of his earlier statement and counter the interpretation that had generated public criticism.

His explanation has come amid calls from some individuals for the Ghana Police Service, particularly the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), to invite him to explain his remarks.

However, there has been no confirmation in the account provided that the police have formally summoned him or opened an investigation specifically over the comments.

Shatta Wale has built a reputation for making bold statements, frequently attracting public attention through his remarks on social media and during entertainment events.

While his outspoken nature has helped keep him in the public conversation, it has also occasionally drawn criticism from sections of the public.

The latest controversy has once again placed the musician at the centre of online discussions, with attention focused on whether his explanation will satisfy those who believe his original comments require further clarification.

For now, his TikTok Live remarks have added another dimension to the debate surrounding his Shatta Fest speech, as social media users continue to discuss what he meant by referring to friends he described as fraudsters.
