Ibrahim Mahama Is Working: Paul Yandoh Speaks After Visiting Damang Road Projects

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Communications Director, Paul Yandoh, has commended businessman Ibrahim Mahama for development initiatives in Damang, noting that residents are beginning to experience the benefits of mining activities in their community.

Yandoh said the road construction projects he observed in the area demonstrated how the exploitation of Ghana’s natural resources could contribute to improving the living conditions of people in mining communities.

He recounted that he recently travelled through several communities while heading to Akwatia in the Eastern Region to attend a funeral.

During the journey, he passed through Damang, where he observed road construction works reportedly being carried out by Ibrahim Mahama.

According to Yandoh, witnessing the projects firsthand informed his assessment of the development taking place in the community.

He expressed satisfaction that residents were beginning to benefit from mining operations, stressing that communities whose lands contain valuable natural resources should experience tangible improvements in their living conditions.

The former NPP regional communications director maintained that meaningful change should be measured by its positive impact on people’s lives rather than promises of development.

“From what I have witnessed, since they’ve given him the gold mine, the people are benefiting from it. And that is the essence of change,” he said.

“Change should impact positively in all of our lives,” he added.

He also referred to former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s position on the need for improvements in economic indicators, including a stronger cedi and declining inflation, to translate into better living standards for ordinary Ghanaians.

Yandoh urged those responsible for the ongoing projects to sustain their efforts, particularly in helping to reduce the difficulties faced by residents.

He further called on other individuals and companies benefiting from mining activities to invest in infrastructure and development initiatives within their host communities.

According to him, it was unacceptable for communities to remain impoverished while substantial mineral resources were extracted from their lands.
