GTA Deputy CEO Abeiku Santana Raises Concerns Over Access to CEO for Urgent Decisions

Deputy Chief Executive Officer for the Ghana Tourism Authority, Abeiku Santana, has had to write to the Creative Arts Minister to complain bitterly about the unavailability of his Chief Executive Officer.

In a letter that has since gone viral, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer indicated that his intention is not to make a personal complaint but to highlight a communication gap that needs to be addressed.

He sought the intervention of the Minister to help establish effective communication and consultation arrangements between the CEO and his office, especially on urgent matters.

Commenting on the matter, Member of Parliament for Tafo, Hon Ekow Vincent Assafuah in a post shared via social media said “In President Mahama’s government, a Deputy CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Abeiku Santana, has had to write to the sector Minister to complain about his inability to get the attention or presence of his own boss, CEO Maame Afua Houadjeto, on accountability matters, largely on the allocation of World Cup visa slots.

A Deputy CEO cannot sit with his CEO to deliberate on issues affecting the institution? Must he write to the Minister to complain before his boss makes herself available?

Let the records reflect that this is the same institution where 14 Regional Directors reportedly had to sign a petition seeking an audience with the CEO over accountability matters.

What kind of state institutions are we running? Is accountability and internal coordination now a problem under President Mahama’s administration? And President Mahama looks on?”.
