GTA Deputy CEO Abeiku Santana petitions Minister over communication gap and access to his boss Maame Efua Houadjeto on critical issues

A Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, has petitioned the sector minister over what he describes as a recurring challenge in accessing the Chief Executive Officer, Maame Efua Houadjeto for consultations on urgent operational matters.

In a letter dated October 22, 2026, addressed to the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, a copy of which has been seen by Graphic Online, Mr Aggrey (Abeiku Santana) said on several occasions he had requested meetings through the CEO’s secretary or personal assistant, only to be informed that she was unavailable.

He noted that while he appreciated the demands on her schedule, the situation made it difficult to obtain timely guidance, approvals and decisions needed to carry out his duties effectively.

According to the letter, this resulted in delays in operations, stakeholder engagements and the implementation of key assignments.

Mr Aggrey, who is responsible for Marketing and Special Duties, stated that the petition was not a personal complaint but a move to highlight a communication gap that needed to be addressed in the interest of effective management and institutional efficiency.

He said he was seeking the minister’s intervention, with the knowledge of the Board Chairperson, to help establish a more effective communication and consultation arrangement between the CEO’s office and his office, especially on urgent official matters.

He reaffirmed his commitment to working professionally with the CEO and the entire management team to achieve the ministry’s objectives and strengthen the performance of the authority.

The letter was copied to the Chief Director of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, the Board Chairperson of the GTA and the Chief Executive Officer of the GTA.
