“Don’t Let Them Lie To You; Subsidy Is In Our Past”- Tinubu Warns Supporters at Campaign Flag Off

According to a report by the official Facebook page of Channels Television on Saturday, October 23, 2026, President Bola Tinubu warned Nigerians against believing his political opponents as he addressed supporters at the All Progressives Congress campaign flag-off in Kaduna.

“Be careful; watch them. Don’t let them lie to you. What is past is in the past. Fuel subsidy is in our past: no more corruption, no more falsification of invoices, no more lies, no more smuggling of fuel,” Tinubu told the crowd.

The President and Vice-President Kashim Shettima had arrived in Kaduna for the official launch of the APC’s campaign ahead of the 2027 general election.

Tinubu landed at Kaduna International Airport with First Lady Oluremi Tinubu before proceeding to the rally venue.

While urging voters to support continuity, progress and development, Tinubu also responded to criticism over hunger and poverty in the country.

He accused his opponents of creating the problems they now use against his administration.

“I hear my opponents talking about hunger and poverty. Who created it? They did! We are trying to eradicate it. To you, the children of our country, it’s a promise of a second term – prosperity; you will not regret it.”

Tinubu asked Nigerians to vote for him and all APC candidates in the 2027 election.

He presented the party’s campaign as a contest between continued reforms and a return to what he described as the failures of previous administrations.

The Kaduna rally attracted APC governors, lawmakers, ministers, party leaders and supporters from across the country.

It marked the beginning of the ruling party’s broader mobilisation for the presidential and other elections.
