2027 Election: APC Faces Task of Convincing Nigerians With Tinubu’s Performance Record

According to a report by The Punch on October 14, 2026, the APC Presidential Campaign Council plans to centre its 2027 election message on President Bola Tinubu’s achievements and future plans, according to its Director-General, Senator Abdulaziz Yari.

The position gives the ruling party a clear campaign focus as it prepares to seek another presidential mandate. Instead of relying primarily on promises about what it intends to do, the APC says it will present its record in office as part of its argument for continuity.

The strategy, however, places importance on how the party explains the outcomes of its policies. While the administration has introduced reforms and announced projects across different sectors, voters will be interested in their implementation and the extent to which they have improved living conditions.

Economic pressures, employment opportunities, infrastructure, education and security are among the issues likely to feature in discussions during the election period.

The APC’s campaign council will need to communicate its position across Nigeria’s diverse communities, taking account of the different concerns facing households, workers, farmers and business owners.

Opposition parties will also have an opportunity to challenge the ruling party’s claims and present their own assessments of the administration’s performance.

With the campaign flag-off scheduled for Kaduna on October 24, the debate over Tinubu’s record is expected to become more prominent. Ultimately, voters will decide how much weight to give the ruling party’s achievements and the alternatives offered by its opponents.
