Reactions Trail Onanuga’s Message To Peter Obi As Alex Otti Praises Tinubu Ahead Of 2027 Elections

Several reactions have followed a statement made by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Information and Strategy, in which he advised former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi to listen to Abia State Governor Alex Otti after the latter praised Tinubu’s economic policies.

Onanuga shared his remarks on his official X account on Friday, October 23, 2026, following Otti’s comments commending President Tinubu for removing the fuel subsidy and allowing the naira to float.

The Abia governor’s remarks have generated discussions about the impact of the federal government’s economic reforms and the positions held by political figures regarding the policies.

Reacting to Otti’s comments, Onanuga urged Obi and his supporters to pay attention to the Abia governor’s views, particularly because Otti was elected under the platform of the Labour Party, the same political party Obi previously belonged to.

In his post, Onanuga wrote: “Peter Obi and co should listen to the governor that was elected on the platform of the Labour Party, which Peter abandoned to pursue his selfish interest”.

The statement quickly attracted attention on social media, with several users expressing different opinions about Onanuga’s remarks and his criticism of the former presidential candidate.

While the post focused on Obi’s departure from the Labour Party and Otti’s position on Tinubu’s economic reforms, it also sparked further political discussions among Nigerians.

The development highlights the continuing disagreements among political figures and their supporters over the federal government’s economic policies, particularly the removal of the fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira.

Several social media users subsequently shared their thoughts on the matter, contributing to the growing debate surrounding Onanuga’s comments and the political implications of Otti’s praise for Tinubu.
