‘Presidency not a retirement package or reward for decades in politics’ – A Plus bluntly tells Asiedu Nketiah

According to A Plus, Ghana’s presidency is not a retirement package or a reward for Asiedu Nketiah spending decades in politics engaging in sarcasm.

He argued that the presidency is a solemn responsibility that demands vision, leadership, accountability, and measurable results.

The Gomoa Central MP challenged Asiedu Nketiah to explain why his home region continues to struggle with underdevelopment despite its abundance of natural resources.

He further questioned whether Ghanaians should elect another elderly president, highlighting that Asiedu Nketiah would be 72 by the time he was inaugurated in 2029 if he won the presidency.

In a strongly worded statement on Facebook, Kwame A Plus stated, “You were in politics long before all this Dubai business began. Your own region, blessed with gold, timber, fertile soil, and enormous natural resources, continues to struggle with underdevelopment. Communities lack basic sanitation, people still sh!t in the bush, and children go to bed hungry.

And now you want to become what? President of Ghana?

We came out of a similar situation less than two years ago, after electing a 72-year-old “painti ma mentɔ” man who eventually left office at 80. Now, you are 69. By the time you are inaugurated in 2029, you will be 72! And if you are President for two terms like Okukuseku, you’ll leave office at 80. Ah! What did we do to deserve this? Why? Is it a curse or what?

What guarantees do Ghanaians have that, after your Akufo Addo lookalike presidency, your family will not also become fugitives who desperately attempt to renounce their Ghanaian citizenship, like Ken Ofori-Atta?

The presidency is not a retirement package or a reward for spending decades in politics engaging in sarcasm. It is a solemn responsibility that demands vision, leadership, accountability, and measurable results.

You and your fanfoolers can be angry and say things about Gomoa. F*ck off. I’ve been in office for less than two years but have achieved more than this man. These days, I’ve adopted a certain lifestyle: when I say things you don’t like, and you get angry, I say even more. I love getting under your skin, and your insults give me orgasm!

You may now proceed to vent your frustrations in the comments section while I sit back, relax, and play with my hairy balls”.

A Plus comment follows the incumbent National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, not picking up nomination forms to contest the party’s upcoming national executive elections.

Mahdi Gibril, the NDC Director of Elections and IT, disclosed that Asiedu Nketiah, popularly known as “General Mosquito”, had not picked forms by the close of nominations and had not indicated an intention to contest.

“These are those I know that did not pick. In any case, they did not indicate to us that they will pick,” Mr Gibril said.

Although Asiedu Nketia has not formally declared his presidential bid, the speculation comes amid rumours he intends to contest the NDC’s presidential primary ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The NDC National Chairman on numerous occasions refused to rule out contesting for the flagbearership position of his party.

According to Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, he would make his intentions known when the time was right, adding that his political options remain wide open.

He argued that ambition was an essential part of politics, adding that politicians without ambition are in the wrong profession.

Speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah stated, “Ambition is a very useful thing in politics. If you are a politician and you have no ambition, you are in the wrong profession”.

“I have told you how I would clearly declare it when the time is up for me to do so,” he said.

“How do you hide pregnancy? If you hide your intention to contest for a position, how do you campaign?” he asked.

When directly asked by the host whether he personally aspired to become President, the NDC Chairman stated, “Is the time up? That is the question I’m asking you. Wait till my time is up, and then I will let you know”.
