Obasanjo Cancelled Gratuity, PBAT Has Reintroduced Gratuity, It’s Called Exit Benefit Scheme -Hassan
APC chieftain and former presidential candidate Alwan Hassan has alleged that President Bola Tinubu has restored a retirement benefit scheme that former President Olusegun Obasanjo scrapped while he was in office.
Speaking on Arise TV, Hassan said, “Obasanjo cancelled gratuity. President Tinubu has reintroduced gratuity, it’s called the Exit Benefit Scheme. If you are a civil servant today and you want to retire tomorrow, it’s zero waiting time. Before that tomorrow, your 12-month entitlement has been put together to give you as a take-home for retirement,” he said.
When the interviewer questioned the accuracy of the claim, Hassan brought out a documentary evidence on the spot. He displayed a signed directive from the Head of the Civil Service detailing the implementation of the Exit Benefit Scheme for employees of treasury-funded ministries, departments, and agencies.
Hassan said the document speaks for itself and he challenged any Nigerian who remains unconvinced to go and ask pensioners across the country about their experience with the scheme.
