US-based New Patriotic Party (NPP) member and political commentator Jennifer Oppong has criticized Bono Regional NPP Chairman Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, following his public praise for businessman Ibrahim Mahama.

In a Facebook post on Friday, October 23, 2026, Oppong questioned Abronye’s apparent shift in posture, contrasting it with his previous political commitments. She recalled that Abronye had previously vowed to secure parliamentary seats in the Bono Region for former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, making his current adulation of Ibrahim Mahama—a prominent figure associated with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC)—surprising and contradictory.

Oppong argued that such public reversals undermine party cohesion and send conflicting signals to the NPP’s grassroots base. Referencing internal party dynamics alongside political figures Paul Yandoh and Amoakohene, she suggested that the focus should remain on empowering party youth and delivering on political promises rather than lavishing praise on opposition-linked figures.
