Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has revealed a new political timeline that could see him pursue the presidency after Edwin Sifuna serves two terms as head of state.

Babu made the remarks on Thursday, October 22, 2026, while meeting members of the Linda Mwananchi Women League at his office. His statement marked a shift from his earlier plan to seek the presidency in 2032.

“If Sifuna becomes president in 2027, he will serve two terms until 2037. I should also go for two terms as governor, then become president for another two terms,” Babu said while explaining his political ambitions.

The lawmaker indicated that he was ready to support Sifuna’s presidential bid in the 2027 General Election before pursuing his own plans for the country’s top seat.

Under the arrangement he described, Sifuna would serve two five-year terms if elected, potentially remaining in office until 2037. Babu would then pursue the presidency after serving as Nairobi governor.

The remarks come as the two leaders continue to build their political partnership under the Linda Mwananchi movement, which has identified Sifuna as its preferred presidential candidate.

Babu has also expressed interest in replacing Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja in 2027. He has previously said that he wants to focus on leading Nairobi before pursuing national leadership.

His latest comments have therefore drawn attention to how the two politicians intend to manage their ambitions while working together ahead of the next election.

Babu also stressed the importance of maintaining their relationship, suggesting that their political partnership should survive the challenges that may arise as they pursue their respective goals.
