Geoffrey Mosiria: Even If I Am Jobless, I Will Keep Rescuing Nairobi Street Children
Nairobi County official Geoffrey Mosiria has reaffirmed his commitment to helping vulnerable people living on the streets, declaring that unemployment will not stop him from supporting children, women and the boy child in need of assistance.
In a heartfelt statement, Mosiria shared the story of a man he rescued along Jogoo Road who had been living on top of a tree. According to Mosiria, he intervened to help the man find a house and secure employment, giving him an opportunity to rebuild his life.
Mosiria explained that the circumstances have since changed, with him currently being jobless while the man he once assisted has secured employment. Despite this personal challenge, he maintained that his commitment to helping vulnerable people remains unchanged.
He also expressed his intention to involve the same man in future rescue missions targeting children living on the streets of Nairobi, highlighting his determination to continue supporting people facing difficult circumstances.
The story illustrates how timely intervention and practical assistance can help vulnerable individuals regain stability. Access to shelter and employment can provide people with an opportunity to improve their living conditions and work towards a more secure future.
Mosiria further insisted that he would not abandon street rescue activities, explaining that helping people in need is a responsibility he remains willing to pursue regardless of his employment status.
His statement also touched on his political future, as he posed a question to Nairobi residents about whether they wanted him to become the next governor. However, he suggested that there was no need for people to offer him the position immediately, expressing confidence that the right opportunity would come in time.
His remarks come amid continuing concerns about vulnerable children and other people living on Nairobi’s streets, a challenge that requires sustained support from individuals, communities and relevant authorities.
Mosiria’s message emphasises that helping others does not necessarily depend on holding a public office or having a stable income. Instead, he presents his street rescue work as a personal commitment that he intends to maintain.
