Sad Morning as Form Student Dies While Prepairing for KCSE
Kinyui Boys High School in Machakos County is grieving the death of Form Four student Dennis Matheka, who died shortly before he was due to sit his 2026 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.
The school announced the loss on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, sending shockwaves through students, teachers and the wider school community.
Dennis was among the candidates preparing for the national exams, which are now just around the corner, making his sudden passing even harder to bear.
In an emotional statement, the school said staff and students were struggling to accept the news. It described the loss as having torn at the heart of the institution, saying its eyes were clouded with tears and that a piece of the school had been taken away.
The management added that although their hearts were bleeding with pain, they were surrendering everything to God.
Dennis was reportedly in good standing as a candidate, and the exams were set to mark the end of his secondary school journey. His classmates will now sit the papers without him, a loss that is likely to weigh on them long after the examination period ends.
The circumstances surrounding his death had not been made public at the time of the announcement. The school closed its message with a prayer for his soul and urged the community to cherish his memory with tenderness and faith.
The news has drawn attention across education circles in Kenya, with many netizens sending condolences to his family, classmates and the teaching staff at Kinyui Boys.
