Man United Coach Releases Statement To Fans After Historic 4-1 Loss To Como

Manager Michael Carrick offered his sincere apologies to supporters following Manchester United’s heavy 4-1 defeat away to Como in the UEFA Champions League, admitting that the team’s performance was completely unacceptable.

Playing at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, Cesc Fàbregas’s side dominated the contest from the outset. Argentina international Nico Paz opened the scoring inside the opening minutes before adding a second after the break.

Tasos Douvikas and Jacobo Ramon also found the back of the net for the Italian hosts, leaving United thoroughly outclassed. A late goal from Joshua Zirkzee served merely as a consolation for the visitors, whose winless run extended to seven matches across all competitions.

Following the full-time whistle, an emotional Carrick walked straight over to the away section to apologize to the travelling supporters. Addressing the media afterwards, the manager shouldered total accountability for the dismal performance.

“I can only apologise and this game was unacceptable,” Carrick stated. “I care an unbelievable amount about the supporters, they’re the heartbeat and always will be. All the travel.. so I can only apologise to them. No excuses at all from me.”

The stunning result marks a historic high for Como following their remarkable rise through the Italian divisions, while deepening the crisis at Old Trafford as the scrutiny surrounding Carrick’s future intensifies.
