List of Leaders Sifuna Is Ready to Work With to Remove Ruto From Power in 2027

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has declared his willingness to work with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and other political leaders ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Sifuna made his position clear in a statement expressing his readiness to cooperate with leaders who share his goal of challenging President William Ruto’s administration. His remarks have renewed discussion about possible cooperation among opposition figures.

“I will work with GACHAGUA and any other person to deliver this Country from RUTO,” Sifuna stated.

The declaration comes as opposition leaders explore ways to coordinate their political activities before the next election. However, the statement does not confirm that Sifuna and Gachagua have reached a formal agreement or begun coalition negotiations.

Gachagua, who was removed from office as deputy president in October 2024, has since established himself as a prominent critic of Ruto’s administration. He leads the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), which has been involved in efforts to organise opposition support ahead of 2027.

Sifuna, meanwhile, has pursued a separate political path following his fallout with the Orange Democratic Movement. He was unveiled as leader and presidential candidate of The Equitable Party on October 4, 2026, giving his political ambitions a separate platform.

His willingness to work with Gachagua could bring the two leaders into discussions about cooperation, although major questions would remain. These include the choice of a presidential candidate, the distribution of political responsibilities and the policies a possible alliance would pursue.

Other opposition figures, including Kalonzo Musyoka, Fred Matiang’i and Martha Karua, have also featured in discussions about possible cooperation ahead of the election. Sifuna’s statement did not specify which other leaders he intends to engage or outline a proposed coalition structure.

For now, his remarks establish an openness to working with Gachagua and others, rather than confirmation of a completed political alliance. Whether that willingness leads to formal negotiations will become clearer as the opposition’s 2027 plans develop.
