I am not a hypocrite or a pretender— Xandy Kamel
Share on Twitter Actress and media personality, Xandy Kamel, has responded to critics questioning her decision to reveal that she missed her first son’s burial to celebrate her then-husband’s birthday.
The actress recently made the revelation during an interview with Emelia Brobbey on the Okukuseku show, where she recounted the circumstances surrounding her son’s death and the difficult decisions she made at the time.
Following the interview, Xandy disclosed that some individuals had contacted her through phone calls and direct messages to criticise her for sharing certain details about her personal life.
Reacting to the criticism, she questioned their authority to dictate what she should or should not disclose about her own experiences.
“After the interview with Emelia Brobbey, a few people have called and sent me direct messages to tell me I shouldn’t have said this or that. How dare you tell me what to say and what not to say? Who gave you the moral right to tell me what to say about myself? Do you know me better than I know myself?” she said.
Xandy further accused her critics of expecting her to speak only about the wrongs others had committed against her while keeping her own mistakes private.
She maintained that she was not willing to portray herself as a perfect person by discussing only the negative experiences she had encountered in her relationships.
“You wished that I should have said what someone did to me instead, but the sin I committed should be a secret to myself? I am not a hypocrite, I am not a pretender, I am not a liar, and I don’t live a fake life,” she stated.
The actress added that she was willing to acknowledge her own mistakes rather than present a one-sided account of her life.
According to her, appearing on the Okukuseku show did not mean she was obligated to speak only about the wrongs others had done to her while concealing her own actions.
“The fact that I went to sit on the Okukuseku show doesn’t mean I should only say what someone has done to me when I have also done something wrong. I am not an angel,” Xandy Kamel added.
