BBN: Reality TV Is Watered Down, Everybody Is On Their Phones And Not Many People Watched Us” Ricky

According to a video posted on TVC on Thursday October 22, 2026, former Big Brother Naija Season 11 housemate Ricky said reality television has been watered down because many people are on their phones. He said he also feels many people did not watch this season the way they watched earlier ones. Ricky spoke during the Throwback Thursday edition of the E-Splash show.

Ricky, a 33-year-old writer and filmmaker from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was asked a three-part question by the host. She asked why he went on Big Brother, whether he achieved what he wanted, and whether reality shows are now watered down. The host said she had argued with someone who said going on a reality show is now a waste of days.

In his words, Ricky said, “I would not know because I’m not the biggest fan of reality TV, but I feel so because a lot is going on in the world right now, and a lot of people don’t watch TV as much, a lot of people are on their phones, so I think somehow it has been watered down, and I honestly feel like a lot of people did not watch this season the way they did with other ones,” he said. The host added that the world was busy on social media. Ricky agreed with her.

Ricky said earlier that he does not really watch reality shows and never watched Big Brother consistently. He said he watched most of the eviction shows because people gather, and that he had seen clips on YouTube. He admitted it is a very big show.

On why he went on the show, Ricky said he wanted to be in that space and setting. He said it was not about the whole reality show idea. He added that he auditioned three times before he got in.

He said he is already back to work and doing his thing.
