Trump Blocks Netanyahu’s Military Strikes On Iran; Bid To Influence Israel Poll Foiled?
According to a report by Times of India (TOI) on Wednesday October 21, 2026, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly considered launching fresh strikes on Iran earlier this month.
However, US President Donald Trump opposed resuming hostilities ahead of America’s upcoming midterm elections, according to a financial publication citing sources familiar with the situation.
The planned military actions reportedly focused on Iranian nuclear installations, regime locations, and civilian infrastructure, such as energy facilities.
Sources indicated the operation would have surpassed previous engagements in scale, though Trump decided against reigniting the conflict prior to the November 3 elections.
While it remains uncertain whether Washington would have directly participated, analysts view a future resumption of conflict as a plausible scenario, with some suggesting the plans could serve as a negotiation strategy contingent on US leadership.
The revelations come amid mounting reports that Netanyahu has been pressing Washington to renew military action against Iran.
Channel 12 previously reported that the Israeli prime minister urged Trump to restart the fighting ahead of Israel’s October 27th election and the US midterms.
