The presidential candidate of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, Peter Agada has said he is waiting for a call from his counterparts in the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, and African Democratic Congress, ADC, Mr Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, respectively, ahead of the 2027 general election.

Agada said he was willing to work with either or both opposition figures, provided they aligned with his plans for Nigeria.

He disclosed this while fielding questions on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Wednesday.

Asked how many votes he expected to garner in the 2027 presidential election, Agada said he was targeting between two million and 10 million votes.

The Amayanabo of Elem Kalabari kingdom, in Rivers State, Alhaji Asari Dokubo, has called for a deeper tie between northern Nigeria and the south-south region of the country.

Asari made the call during a royal visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Mohammed Saad Abubakar, in his palace in Sokoto State on Tuesday.

He expressed gratitude to the sultan for the warm reception, adding that the visit was to promote national unity and deepen existing cordial relationships between traditional institutions in southern and northern Nigeria.

โ€œNigeria remains one and indivisible country for the good of our own people and for the welfare of all of us as a people.

โ€œI feel that the sultan is a very amiable person, and our relationship with him over the years has shown that he is humble and he receives everybody as equal.

The governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress in Kwara State, Abdulmumin Ajia, has called for an independent audit of the Kwara State Social Investment Programme over allegations that the scheme is being used to settle political obligations.

Ajia also demanded a comprehensive account of the programmeโ€™s finances from inception, including annual appropriations, actual fund releases, expenditure, administrative costs and outstanding balances.

The demands were contained in a statement he personally signed on Wednesday and made available to The PUNCH, in which he urged Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the KWASSIP management to provide documented explanations for the programmeโ€™s spending and beneficiary selection procedures.
