OM PEN Release Date Moves to Nov 28 in Japan: What Buyers Should Do

The OM PEN release date in Japan moves from Oct 30 to Nov 28, 2026. OM Digital Solutions, the company behind OM System, posted the change on its Japanese site on Oct 21.

The change covers the PEN body in silver and black, the 14-42mm lens kit, and the double zoom kit with the 40-150mm lens. Both the BLS-7 battery and the BCS-7 charger move too. However, the stand-alone M.Zuiko 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 III lens still ships on Oct 30.

US stores already list the camera, and four listings showed stock on Oct 21. Specifically, they cover the black body, the silver body, the silver 14-42mm kit, and the black double zoom kit.

This is the third OM notice about PEN delays in six weeks, and the first to move the release date. OM first apologized for delivery delays on Sept 10. On Oct 7, it set the Oct 30 date and warned of deliveries in spring 2027 or later for some orders. Our OM System PEN delay report covers those first two steps.

OM published the full notice as a PDF. We used it as the main source for every date on this page.

The table lists every date OM changed, plus the items with no change. All dates apply to Japan.

The gap runs 29 days. Meanwhile, the notice keeps the Oct 30 date for the stand-alone lens in Japan.

OM moved the campaign entry deadline from Nov 19, 2026 to Apr 19, 2027. The campaign is OM’s Japan pre-order promotion. Its purchase window stays the same, from Sept 9 to Nov 5, 2026.

Therefore the pre-order campaign now ends after the new ship date. With Nov 28 as the ship date, the old Nov 19 deadline would have passed nine days earlier. The notice also adds a new C course, the OM SYSTEM logo Gear Box Pro.

OM also set a priority rule. It says it will secure enough units for customers whose pre-orders it confirmed on Sept 9 and 10. The notice does not say how OM handles later orders. OM counts its own confirmation date, which might differ from your store order date by a few days.

The notice sits on OM’s Japanese site and lists Japanese dates. It does not mention US availability.

On Oct 21, the Amazon listing for the black body showed three units left, with Amazon.com as the seller. The silver body showed seven left through Adorama. Meanwhile, the silver 14-42mm kit and the black double zoom kit showed stock from Amazon.com. OM’s own US PEN page showed the camera as out of stock on Oct 21, so retailer stock is what counts.

Stock moves by color and store, so read our Oct 16 stock report before you pick a retailer. Also check each listing again before you order.

If you pre-ordered in Japan, ask your retailer when OM confirmed your order. OM’s first group is orders it confirmed on Sept 9 and 10, and OM’s date might differ from your store order date by a few days. To qualify for the campaign, buy by Nov 5, the last day of its purchase window.

My advice: do not cancel on this news alone. A 29-day move is smaller than the spring 2027 or later delivery OM warned about on Oct 7 for some orders.

If you live in the US, the notice gives you no reason to wait for Nov 28, and it does not say whether US supply changes. Buyers who want the camera now should buy from a store with stock and check its return policy first. Our OM System PEN price report covers the body and kit options.

For readers still deciding, OM’s US spec page lists a 344 g body (393 g with battery and card), a 20.4-megapixel Micro Four Thirds sensor, 5-axis stabilization, an OLED viewfinder, and 4K30 video. OM rates battery life at about 410 shots by CIPA.

If you already shoot Micro Four Thirds and want only the lens, the 14-42mm III is the one item still on its Oct 30 date in Japan. The PEN body, battery, and charger slip to Nov 28.

If you want gear ready for Nov 28, two buys fit any PEN order. The PEN takes SD cards up to UHS-I, so a V30 card such as the SanDisk Extreme PRO 128GB fits. A strap such as the Peak Design Slide Lite suits a small body. Body-only buyers also have the stand-alone M.Zuiko 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 III. Kit buyers should skip it, because the kit includes the lens.

OM moved the Japan release from Oct 30 to Nov 28, 2026. The stand-alone 14-42mm III lens keeps its Oct 30 date.

OM’s notice is on its Japanese site and does not mention US availability. US listings showed stock on Oct 21, although stock changes by color and store.

The delay covers the PEN body in silver and black, the 14-42mm kit, the double zoom kit, the BLS-7 battery, and the BCS-7 charger.

OM says it will secure enough units for customers whose pre-orders it confirmed on Sept 9 and 10. OM’s date might differ by a few days from your store order date, so ask your retailer.

Yes. The entry deadline moves from Nov 19, 2026 to Apr 19, 2027, while the purchase window still runs from Sept 9 to Nov 5, 2026.

Not when sold alone. It still ships on Oct 30, while the kits move to Nov 28 with the body.

A move from Oct 30 to Nov 28 disappoints, especially after two earlier notices. Still, OM kept the purchase window, extended the campaign entry deadline to Apr 19, 2027, and put Sept 9 and 10 orders first in line. Those details matter more than the 29 days if you ordered early.

Waiting is the hard part of any pre-order. If you ordered in Japan, I would keep your order and use the extra weeks to plan your card and lens choices. In the US, I would check stock and return terms before you buy. We will update this page if OM announces a change for the US.
