NGA 2-0 PUE: Flamingos Beat Puerto Rico to Move Second in Group B Ahead of DPR Korea Clash
According to a report by Daily Post on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Nigeria’s Flamingos defeated Puerto Rico 2-0 in their second group game at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
The victory gave Akeem Busari’s side three points from two matches and moved Nigeria into second position in Group B, behind defending champions DPR Korea.
The Flamingos made a positive start to the encounter and eventually broke the deadlock in the 25th minute through Oluwakemi Adegbuyi.
Adegbuyi’s goal gave Nigeria the advantage and put the Flamingos in control as they looked to secure their first victory of the group stage.
Puerto Rico responded by attempting to find a way back into the contest, but Nigeria’s defence remained organised and prevented their opponents from finding an equaliser.
The Flamingos maintained their advantage through the remainder of the match as Puerto Rico continued to search for an opening.
Nigeria then sealed the victory deep into stoppage time when Precious Oscar scored the second goal, ensuring that the Flamingos finished the contest with a two-goal advantage.
The result leaves Nigeria second in Group B with three points from two matches. DPR Korea remain top with six points after the defending champions recorded a commanding 6-1 victory over Poland earlier on Tuesday.
Nigeria’s position means their final group match will be crucial as they attempt to secure their progress in the competition.
The Flamingos will face DPR Korea in their final Group B fixture on Friday. The defending champions will enter the encounter with maximum points after winning both of their opening matches.
Nigeria will take confidence from the victory over Puerto Rico, having kept a clean sheet while scoring in both the first and final stages of the match.
Adegbuyi’s 25th-minute opener gave the Flamingos the platform for the victory, while Oscar’s stoppage-time strike finally put the result beyond doubt.
With three points secured from their first two matches, Busari’s team will now turn their attention to the decisive meeting with DPR Korea as the group-stage campaign reaches its final round.
