Miguna Explains Why Sifuna Has “Zero” Chance of Becoming President in 2027
Lawyer and political commentator Miguna Miguna has launched a scathing attack on Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, arguing that the ODM politician has no chance of becoming Kenya’s president in the 2027 General Election.
In a strongly worded statement shared on his official X account on Wednesday, Miguna linked Sifuna’s political prospects to the leaders surrounding him and what he described as a culture of impunity.
His remarks came a day after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua hosted Sifuna and other Linda Mwananchi leaders at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County, sparking speculation about possible cooperation among opposition figures ahead of the next election.
Miguna drew comparisons with the 2022 presidential election, claiming that former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s political baggage contributed to the defeat of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
He argued that Sifuna could face a similar challenge in 2027 because of his perceived political associations.
“In 2027, Edwin Sifuna has ZERO chance of becoming president because of Uhuru Kenyatta, Rigathi Gachagua, Babu Patel, George Natembeya, Caroli Omondi, Pauline Njoroge, Karanja Kibicho,” Miguna wrote.
He further accused Sifuna of embracing what he termed a culture of impunity and dismissed his political messaging as empty sloganeering.
These remarks represent Miguna’s political assessment rather than an established prediction of the election outcome.
The lawyer also criticised politicians whom he believes condone electoral malpractice, warning that those who celebrate alleged election theft should not expect to be protected from similar wrongdoing.
He maintained that public rallies, social media exchanges and political bravado would not automatically translate into electoral victory.
“I am no prophet. But mark this post,” Miguna declared, challenging those who disagree with his assessment to consider his warning.
Miguna also called for what he described as revolutionary transformation, arguing that Kenya needed fundamental changes to institutions and political structures he considers deeply flawed.
The timing of Miguna’s remarks has added another dimension to discussions surrounding Sifuna’s meeting with Gachagua and the Linda Mwananchi delegation.
Although the meeting prompted speculation about opposition unity, no formal presidential ticket was confirmed in the information available.
Whether Miguna’s criticism will influence the wider political debate remains to be seen as leaders position themselves ahead of 2027.
