A video of a university student allegedly abandoning the house her parents rented for her to move in with her boyfriend has gone viral, igniting a debate on campus relationships and priorities.

The clip, shared by Nairobi Express, shows a cluttered bedroom with clothes and personal items strewn across the space. The woman filming says she went to check on her friend and was alarmed by what she found.

According to the narrator, the student’s parents had paid for accommodation near campus so she could study comfortably.

She instead reportedly left that house and moved in with her Kisii boyfriend, where she allegedly took on all domestic duties, including cooking, cleaning and buying household shopping with her own money.

The boyfriend, the narrator claimed, would go to class as usual and return to find everything already done.

The friend spoke with a mix of concern and disbelief, questioning why a student whose parents had gone to great lengths to secure stable housing would spend her time and money running someone else’s home.
