Kenyans React as Ndindi Nyoro Reveals Why He Joined the Opposition Days After Being Called a Mole
Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has declared that the People’s Party has joined the opposition, saying its main goal is to increase pressure on President William Ruto ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In his remarks, Nyoro said the party had entered the opposition to speed up efforts to send Ruto home and bring changes to Kenya. He made it clear that the party had two main objectives: removing the President from power through the ballot and changing the country.
“Sisi kama People’s Party tumeingia katika upinzani ili kuongeza speed ya kumpeleka Ruto Sugoi,” Nyoro said.
He added that the party’s focus was on taking Ruto home and changing Kenya, signalling a tougher political position as leaders begin preparing for the next general election.
Nyoro’s remarks come at a time when political parties and leaders are positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 polls. The opposition has continued to face questions about unity, leadership and whether different political groups can work together to challenge the ruling coalition.
The Kiharu MP has also been associated with discussions about alternative political leadership and economic changes. His latest statement places the People’s Party within the growing debate over the direction of the opposition and its strategy against Ruto.
However, the declaration alone does not establish whether the party has entered a formal coalition with other opposition groups. Any such arrangement would depend on further announcements and agreements between the parties involved.
The next election is expected to put the government’s record on the economy, taxation, employment and the cost of living under close scrutiny. These issues are likely to feature prominently as politicians seek support from voters across the country.
Nyoro’s statement therefore adds another voice to the political contest taking shape ahead of 2027. Whether the People’s Party can turn its declared objectives into a coordinated campaign will depend on its plans, leadership and ability to attract public support.
Do you think the opposition can unite and defeat Ruto in the 2027 General Election?
