“I Will Work With Gachagua and Anyone to Deliver Kenya From Ruto” – Sifuna
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has declared his willingness to work with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and other political leaders in an effort to remove President William Ruto from power through the ballot in 2027.
Sifuna’s remarks come amid growing efforts by opposition leaders to unite and agree on a common strategy ahead of the next General Election.
On Tuesday, October 20, Sifuna led a delegation from the Linda Mwananchi movement to Gachagua’s Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County, where the two sides held talks about possible cooperation.
The meeting came shortly after Gachagua returned to Kenya following nearly two months in the United States.
Speaking about the engagement, Sifuna indicated that political differences should not prevent leaders from working together when they share a common goal.
The meeting has raised fresh questions about the possibility of a political alliance between Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi movement and Gachagua’s Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).
DCP deputy party leader Cleophas Malala has openly supported the idea of the two leaders working together, suggesting that a joint ticket could strengthen the opposition’s chances against Ruto.
According to reports, the two camps have also discussed working towards a united presidential ticket, although the process of selecting a candidate has not been finalised.
The latest developments come as other opposition leaders, including Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Jubilee Party leader Fred Matiang’i and Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua, continue positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 contest.
However, questions remain over how the different parties will agree on leadership, share responsibilities and settle on a candidate who can represent the wider opposition.
Sifuna’s declaration signals a willingness to engage leaders beyond his immediate political circle as the race towards 2027 gathers momentum.
Do you think Sifuna and Gachagua can unite the opposition and defeat Ruto in the 2027 elections?
