I don’t Understand Why Everybody in Government is Angry – Sifuna
Sifuna questioned why everybody in the Kenya Kwanza government seemed very angry, especially towards him.
On Wednesday, October 21, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna questioned why everybody in the Kenya Kwanza government seemed very angry, especially towards him.
Speaking during the requiem mass of the late Ambassador Buridi Nabwera, he said that he has been targeted with endless insults by leaders in or allied to the government.
He welcomed a ceasefire call by seasoned politician Francis Ole Kaparo, who demanded an end to insults in the political scene.
“The person standing in front of you is a victim and the recipient of the heaviest insults from everybody in government today, and I am happy that Ole Kaparo, as an elder statesman, has put out the call for everybody to stop insults in politics.
“I do not understand why everybody in the government is angry. People are upset. You ask questions about about housing; they call you Mr Empty, instant coffee, mafala, they tell us that we have no agenda nor brains,” Sifuna stated.

Sifuna called out pro-government leaders for their hypocrisy, saying that when in churches and funerals, they are the first to call for peace, yet they insult the Opposition during rallies.
He further denounced allegations that Linda Mwananchi leaders planned to cause chaos at the late Nabwera’s funeral. The Senator said that his team will shun a back-and-forth with those in government henceforth.
“I want to make this clear. As Linda Mwananchi, it is not our intention to disrupt public meetings or funerals even if we are disrespected. When the insults come, we intend to draw back the debate to the issues of the day,” Sifuna stated.
The Linda Mwananchi leader addressed uproar from a section of Kenyans over his meeting with the Democracy for the Citizens Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua in Wamunyoro.
He maintained that the push to seclude a region was not only tribal, but also regressive. Sifuna vowed to return the country to 1963, when citizens were proud of being Kenyans, and tribalism was non-existent.
“Yesterday, some people saw me somewhere with someone, and somehow they are telling us that there is a region in this country where none of us is supposed to associate with. I want to assure that we will restore the feeling that was in our country in 1963,” he added.
Earlier, Pauline Njoroge questioned the motives of bloggers who criticised Sifuna for meeting Gachagua, arguing that some of those expressing disappointment with the senator continued to support President William Ruto despite controversies surrounding his administration’s handling of protests.
She defended Sifuna’s decision to meet Gachagua, challenging his critics to explain why the engagement offended them while they remained supportive of the President.
