GH¢24.8 Billion Has Been Paid To Fund The Economy Since January – Ato Forson
The Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has disclosed that government has paid a total of GH¢24.8 billion to statutory funds since January 2026 to support critical sectors of the economy.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Dr Forson said the payments cover funds for schools, healthcare delivery, road infrastructure and local development initiatives across the country.
According to him, the current administration has broken away from the past where statutory fund releases were characterized by delays, capping and accumulation of arrears which hampered service delivery.
Unlike in the past, when payments were marked by delays, capping and arrears, we now release these funds on time and in full, he stated.
The Finance Minister explained that the timely and full release of funds ensures that statutory bodies have the needed resources to deliver essential services as required by law.
The beneficiary funds include the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) and the Road Fund.
He said government remains committed to fiscal discipline and ensuring that statutory obligations are met without hindrance to improve the lives of Ghanaians.
