Cesc Fabregas Breaks Silence on Manchester United Return as Carrick Faces Pressure Cesc Fabregas
Cesc Fabregas has refused to discuss speculation linking him with the Manchester United managerial job, insisting that such questions show little respect for current boss Michael Carrick.
The Como manager was asked about the possibility of taking charge at Old Trafford ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League meeting between the two sides. However, the former Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona midfielder declined to entertain the suggestion.
“As you can understand I won’t answer that question because I think that’s not a very nice question,” Fabregas said.
“I don’t think that shows enough respect to a great footballer and manager like Michael Carrick at the helm of a wonderful Manchester United side.”
His response comes at a difficult time for United, who have struggled to find consistency under Carrick this season. The club’s recent results have increased pressure on the Englishman, with questions emerging about his ability to turn the team’s fortunes around.
United were held to a 1-1 draw by Leeds United in their latest Premier League outing, extending their disappointing run of results. The team now faces another important test against Como as it looks to regain confidence and improve its performances.
Fabregas, meanwhile, has attracted attention for his work at Como, helping the Italian club progress from Serie B to Serie A before securing European qualification. His growing reputation has made him a name discussed in connection with major managerial positions.
Despite the speculation, the Spaniard made it clear that his focus remains on his current responsibilities rather than rumours about a possible move to Manchester.
The upcoming Champions League encounter will also give Fabregas an opportunity to test his side against one of English football’s most recognisable clubs.
For Manchester United, the immediate priority remains getting back to winning ways and supporting Carrick as he attempts to steady the team.
Fabregas’s comments have added another talking point ahead of the meeting, but he has made no commitment or declaration of interest in replacing Carrick.
