Golden Arrows Break Silence on Ncikazi as Dladla’s Future Comes Under Pressure

Golden Arrows have responded to speculation linking Orlando Pirates assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi with a potential return to the club, amid growing concerns over their disappointing start to the season.

The Durban-based outfit has reportedly started considering possible alternatives as pressure mounts on head coach Pitso Dladla following a difficult run of results in the Betway Premiership. With just one victory from their opening eight league matches, questions are increasingly being asked about whether the current technical team can turn the situation around.

Reports suggest that Arrows have drawn up a shortlist of potential coaching replacements, with Ncikazi reportedly emerging as a leading candidate. However, the club has moved to distance itself from claims that negotiations or formal discussions regarding his possible appointment are already underway.

Golden Arrows team manager Nonceba Madlala dismissed the speculation, insisting that the club was unaware of any move involving the experienced coach.

“We don’t know anything about Mandla Ncikazi coming to Arrows,” Madlala said.

Her comments indicate that, despite the growing rumours, there has been no official confirmation from the club that Ncikazi is being considered as Dladla’s successor.

For now, Dladla remains in charge, but the team’s results have placed his position under increasing scrutiny. In a highly competitive Premiership campaign, a prolonged run without victories can quickly affect a club’s ambitions, particularly when the objective is to remain competitive and push for a respectable league finish.

Arrows will need to find greater consistency, improve their performances and start collecting maximum points if they are to ease the pressure surrounding the technical team.

Ncikazi’s reported links to the club have nevertheless attracted attention, given his previous association with Golden Arrows and his experience in South African football. His familiarity with the club’s environment could make him an appealing option if the hierarchy eventually decides to make a coaching change.

The 57-year-old is currently part of Orlando Pirates’ technical team, working alongside head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou. Any potential move would therefore depend on several factors, including the circumstances at Pirates and whether Arrows formally pursue his services.

However, until an official announcement is made, the speculation surrounding Ncikazi remains unconfirmed.

The immediate priority for Arrows is to arrest their poor run of form and restore confidence within the squad. Whether Dladla gets sufficient time to achieve that objective remains a key question as the season progresses.

Would Mandla Ncikazi be the right man to revive Golden Arrows’ campaign, or should the club continue backing Pitso Dladla?
