Barcelona fear Dani Olmo could miss key fixtures with latest injury setback

According to a report by Barca Blaugranes on Wednesday October 21, 2026, Barcelona are concerned that Dani Olmo could be sidelined for four to five weeks after suffering an injury during their 4-2 Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday.

The Spain international was forced off in the first half of the encounter at the Parc des Princes, leaving Hansi Flick facing another potential setback as Barcelona prepare for a crucial run of fixtures.

According to an initial reports, Olmo may have suffered a tear in his left adductor muscle. The midfielder is expected to undergo an MRI scan upon his return to Barcelona to determine the extent of the injury.

Although the club are yet to confirm the diagnosis, an absence of around a month would be a significant blow for Flick, particularly with Sunday’s El Clasico against Real Madrid approaching.

Olmo is expected to miss the meeting with Madrid and could also be unavailable for upcoming matches against Alaves, Aston Villa, Atletico Madrid, Villarreal and Sabah, depending on the results of his medical assessment and his recovery progress.

The 28-year-old’s potential absence would further complicate Barcelona’s selection plans, with Eric Garcia, Andreas Christensen and Jules Kounde also reported to be sidelined.

Flick may have to turn to alternatives such as Frenkie de Jong, Gavi and Fermin Lopez to provide creativity and energy in midfield while Olmo recovers.

Barcelona will now be hoping the MRI scan delivers positive news and that the injury is not as serious as initially feared. However, if the suspected adductor tear is confirmed, the Catalan club could be without the midfielder for several important matches.
