A Man in SA Who Threatened His SA Girlfriend’s Family With Death & Demanded R50,000 Ransom Exposed

A shocking alleged kidnapping scheme has landed a Limpopo couple in police custody after investigators uncovered what authorities believe was a carefully staged attempt to extort R50,000 from the woman’s unsuspecting relatives.

The suspects, a 43-year-old man and his 28-year-old girlfriend, were arrested following an investigation into a kidnapping report that initially raised serious concerns about the woman’s safety.

According to information released by police, the incident began on Saturday, 17 October 2026, when the woman’s family received a disturbing telephone call from an unidentified individual claiming that she had been kidnapped.

The caller allegedly demanded R50,000 in exchange for her release and issued a frightening ultimatum. The family was reportedly warned that the woman would be killed unless the requested money was deposited before 8:00 a.m.

Faced with the possibility of losing their loved one, the relatives were placed in an alarming situation as the alleged kidnappers attempted to pressure them into making an urgent payment.

However, what initially appeared to be a dangerous abduction took an unexpected turn when police launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the reported kidnapping.

Through their investigative efforts, officers managed to trace the woman’s 43-year-old boyfriend, who was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident.

During questioning, the man allegedly revealed that he had taken his girlfriend to his family’s homestead in Jane Furse, situated within the Sekhukhune District of Limpopo.

Acting on this information, police travelled to the identified property to establish the woman’s whereabouts and determine whether she was being held against her will.

Upon arriving at the homestead, officers located the 28-year-old woman and discovered that she was apparently unharmed.

Police confirmed that she was in good physical condition, displayed no visible injuries and had not reported any complaints.

The discovery significantly changed the direction of the investigation, with authorities treating the incident as an alleged fabricated kidnapping rather than a genuine abduction.

Both the woman and her boyfriend were subsequently arrested in connection with the suspected scheme.

The incident has raised concerns about the misuse of kidnapping threats to obtain money from unsuspecting family members.

Although the precise circumstances surrounding the alleged arrangement remain subject to investigation, the case highlights the emotional distress that ransom demands can cause relatives who believe a loved one’s life is in danger.

The allegations against the couple have not yet been proven in court, and both suspects remain entitled to the presumption of innocence.
