SAD: Witness Reveals What Priest was Preaching About Before His Tragic Death at the Altar
A priest who reminded worshippers that everyone will one day die was reportedly struck and killed by a falling crucifix minutes later, in a video now circulating widely online.
Patricio Alfredo Sanchez was delivering his homily at the church altar on October 18, 2026, when the tragedy is said to have happened.
The footage was first published by ecuador.tv on Instagram and has since spread across social media. In it, Sanchez speaks about how modern life crowds out the things that matter most.
He told the congregation that the time people spend on other pursuits often lacks the meaning found in time given to God, spouses, children and relatives.
He reminded them that all present will eventually die and urged them to put God first. He also drew on the biblical teaching to give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s. He closed by asking God to accompany and bless the faithful through the coming week.
Sanchez then led the congregation in the Apostles’ Creed, a profession of faith that speaks of death, resurrection and eternal life, before moving to the prayers of the faithful.
Shortly after, he was reportedly struck by the crucifix while still at the altar and died.
The video, which carries a bold red “ATTENTION” banner in the style of a breaking news bulletin, has drawn heavy attention because of how closely the priest’s words echo what followed. Many viewers have expressed grief and reflection.
